Cleveland has become the employment center for most of northeast Ohio. It is home to a large group of professionals working in the numerous health care facilities in the city. With two major banks, Cleveland is home to numerous financial institutions as well as reminders of its manufacturing past and some high tech research.
National City Corporation, one of the 10 largest banks in the U.S. and Key Corp. USA, the 13th largest bank in the country are headquartered in Cleveland.
The city’s manufacturing base may have waned, but it remains alive with several major companies. Eaton Corp. makers of electrical and fluid power systems among other things, is headquartered here. Sherwin Williams, the paint maker, also calls Cleveland home.
But, today, Cleveland’s collar is more white than blue. NASA has a research center in the city and some of the largest and best-known hospitals in all of the Midwest are located here.
